It is the hammer of Thor, also known as the God of Thunder. During the Middle Ages (793-1066AD), also called the Age of Vikings, Vikings organized many expeditions to Europe and North America, mostly for the purpose of piracy, barbarism and conquest. They mostly obtained silver from here and took it to their lands. Necklaces bearing this symbol were also used by local people at that time. They believe that this symbol gives strength and is a protective talisman.
