Ancient Greek instrument from Minoan-Mycenaean lyres. Used during the Aegean Bronze Age. Apollo, god of music, mostly portrayed with a Kithara. Sappho is another very significant figure in the history associated with Kithara. Today in modern greek Kithara means guitar.
