An instrument originating from ancient Greece, derived from Minoan-Mycenaean instruments. It was used during the Aegean Bronze Age. Apollo, the god of music, is often depicted with a Kithara. There is also Sappho, a very important figure throughout history, associated with Kithara. Today, in modern Greek, "Kithara" means guitar.
