Byzantine Empire ruled by the Heraclian dynasty between 610 and 711. Heraclius was the first ruler and his origin was Armenian and Cappadocian. During the siege of Constantinople, he successfully defended the city and II. He defeated the Persians led by Khosrau. (There is a plate on a cross depicting this scene in the Louvre Museum in Paris.)
